Kimi Skills: 56 vetted skills
for Kimi Code
Kimi Code, the agent tool by Moonshot AI, understands agent skills in the SKILL.md format and even reads them straight from your Claude skills folder. That means our entire curated catalog works with Kimi from day one. Here is how the install works and which skills are worth it.
What are Kimi skills?
A skill is a small folder with a SKILL.md file: a YAML
header with a name and description, followed by the guide in Markdown.
Kimi Code discovers all skills on startup, adds their descriptions to the
system context, and loads the matching skill automatically as soon as a
task fits. To invoke one on purpose, use /skill:name.
The key point for anyone already using Claude: according
to the official Moonshot documentation, Kimi Code reads skills directly
from .claude/skills/ among others. Your existing Claude
skills are instantly available to Kimi, with no copying and no rework.
The format is the same.
Skills are plain text instructions and send no data to third parties on their own. Where Kimi itself stands on data protection and when it pays off in a company is covered in our Kimi K3 guide with daily updated benchmarks.
Install in one minute
For yourself, install skills into ~/.kimi/skills/; for a
team repo into .kimi/skills/ in the project. Example for a
skill from our catalog:
mkdir -p ~/.kimi/skills/brand-voice-enforcement
curl -fsSL https://collectivebrain.de/skills/brand-voice-enforcement/SKILL.md \
-o ~/.kimi/skills/brand-voice-enforcement/SKILL.md
If you use both Claude and Kimi, just take the shared
~/.claude/skills/ folder: install once, both tools know the
skill. Each skill detail page below ships the SKILL.md for download along
with a ready-to-run install command.
The catalog: 56 skills across 7 categories
Curated and continuously updated by our editorial team; every week an automated routine checks open sources for new skills. Each skill has a detail page with use cases, source, and install. Transparency: the catalog was originally curated for Claude; since Kimi Code reads the same format, it applies here one to one, and you can quickly test individual tool-specific skills if in doubt.

Frequently asked questions about Kimi skills
What are Kimi skills?
A Kimi skill (agent skill) is a small folder with a SKILL.md file: instructions, templates, and knowledge for a recurring task. Kimi Code, the command-line tool by Moonshot AI, discovers these skills on startup and loads them automatically whenever a task matches; you can also invoke one explicitly with the slash command /skill:name.
Do Claude skills also work with Kimi?
Yes, that is the key point: Kimi Code uses the same SKILL.md format as Claude (a YAML header with name and description plus a Markdown guide) and, according to the official Moonshot documentation, reads skills directly from the .claude/skills/ folder among others. So if you already have Claude skills installed, Kimi Code knows them without a single extra step. Individual skills that rely on tool-specific features may need a quick test.
How do I install a Kimi skill?
Put the skill folder with its SKILL.md into ~/.kimi/skills/ (for you) or .kimi/skills/ in the project (for your team). If you also use Claude, the shared ~/.claude/skills/ folder is enough, Kimi Code reads it too. Every detail page in our catalog ships the SKILL.md for direct download along with the install command.
Are the skills here free?
Yes, all 56 listed skills are free and come from open sources (Anthropic, community, and our own). You only need Kimi Code from Moonshot AI, which is also freely available.
What is the difference between Kimi skills and Kimi plugins?
Skills are knowledge guides in a SKILL.md that the model reads and follows, ideal for working methods, style rules, and workflows. Plugins declare executable tools via a plugin.json, such as scripts, API calls, or MCP servers. The two complement each other: the skill describes the approach, the plugin provides the access.
Who benefits from starting with skills?
Any team that wants more from Kimi Code than ad-hoc prompts: skills make proven working methods repeatable, from SEO audits to brand voice to a finished document. Rule of thumb: whatever you have explained to the model three times belongs in a skill. For skills with company workflows or a team rollout, we build that with you.
Custom skills for your team
