Good for
- Extract a clear brand voice from old website and newsletter copy
- Align new freelancers, agencies and tools on one consistent tone
- Spot inconsistent writing before it dilutes your brand
The prompt
You are an experienced brand strategist and language profiler. Analyse the following texts from my brand and derive a compact, immediately usable style guide from them.
Context:
Brand: [your brand name]
Industry and audience: [your audience]
Text samples: [paste 3 to 5 real texts here, for example from your website, newsletter or social media]
Task:
1. Read the samples and identify recurring patterns in word choice, sentence structure, form of address and rhythm.
2. Distil the brand voice (who speaks, what attitude) and the tone (how it sounds in different situations).
3. Back up each key observation with a short quote from the samples.
4. Flag where the texts are inconsistent and propose one clear direction.
Return the result in exactly this structure:
- Brand voice in three sentences
- Five tone adjectives, each with a one line explanation
- Do and Don't list (five points each) for word choice and sentence structure
- Form of address and perspective (formal or informal, we-perspective)
- Three example sentences: the same message written in your voice
- Short word list: preferred terms and terms to avoid
Write plainly and concretely yourself, without marketing filler. If the samples are too thin, tell me honestly which additional examples you need instead of guessing. Replace the bracketed placeholders with your own details.
Frequently asked
Is ChatGPT's output ready to use as a final style guide?
As a solid first draft yes, as a finished document no. ChatGPT only works with the texts you feed it. With thin or contradictory material it fills gaps with assumptions, so read the result critically and check the example quotes.
How many text samples do I need for a good result?
Three to five real texts are enough for a first analysis. The more varied the occasions (website, newsletter, social post), the more clearly ChatGPT can tell what is consistently your voice and what was just context.
